On Thursday, May 13th, South Los Angeles Building Healthy Communities hosted a webinar titled, The American Rescue Plan Act and Funding Impact in South LA with Yolanda Vera, Senior Health Deputy, LA County 2nd District Supervisor Holly Mitchell. As we move into the recovery phase of this pandemic, the collaborative felt this was an important conversation to have and invite our members to participate in. The American Rescue Plan Act is a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus bill that will impact states, cities, and municipalities across the country. It is crucial that we begin to have these conversations with local leaders in order to keep our members and residents up to date with policies that will impact South LA.
During South Los Angeles Building Healthy Communities event Sonya Vasquez, Chief Operations Officer for CHC, served as the moderator. Jessica Melendez, Project Coordinator, with CHC’s Built Environment Team, provided the Opening Remarks.
CHC is a member of the South LA BHC and provides backbone support to the Steering Committee in developing and implementing a plan to promote intersectional movement building that builds power and shifts the narrative about South LA.
