CHC staff and partners recently visited the California State Capitol to uplift our values and urge lawmakers and their staff to join us in upholding and sustaining a progressive California where everyone has equitable access to health. Following a briefing at our Covering Kids and Families Coalition meeting on April 9th, advocates headed over to the Capitol Building to meet with the offices of 14 California State Assemblymembers and Senators. These educational visits provide attendee organizations a forum to share their organizational priorities, current work and build strategic relationships with the offices of their representatives. Additionally, these visits served their purpose of ensuring our voices were heard regarding crucial budget and legislative items, all of which support California’s most vulnerable populations.

California has made great strides in promoting a health and well-being focused community. Despite attacks at the federal level to dismantle healthcare and other human services, California has an opportunity to uplift and maintain a strong and healthy California through the budget proposals and legislative items mentioned in this post and supported by our partners. CHC will continue to monitor the state healthcare policy landscape as we strategically collaborate to ensure the success of health reform in California.
